Red Barons Fall in Regional Quarters, Simmons Wins Postseason Awards

The Corning CC Men's Basketball team made the Mid-state and Regional Tournament again this year as they were the #4 and #7 seed respectively. In the Mid-State tournament, the Red Barons played the #1 seed and host of the tournament Cayuga CC. After leading by 5 at halftime, led by 22 points by Christian Simmons, the team could not hold the lead and ended up falling 72-67.

Corning then played in the regional tournament at Herkimer County CC and fell to the Generals 97-77. The Red Barons were down 12 at the half and played even with HCCC until the 6 minutes left in the second half. All 5 players scored in double figures, Jahlil Nougues had a career high 17 points including a 5-6 effort from the 3 point putting and exclamation point on his season.

Christian Simmons was recognized at the MSAC tournament as an all-conference selection and was named 2nd team All-Region as well.
