The Corning CC Red Barons Softball team was honored for their conference play this year with 5 players being named to the team. Michelle DiNicola was named Player of the Year, while Danielle Dille, Sam Hauck, Skylar Rechner, and Alana Eaton all were named to the MSAC All-Conference team. Head Coach Stacy Johnson was named Co-Coach of the Year with Broome's coach Mike Huggler.
Michelle DiNicola put up outstanding numbers in her freshman season which led to her winning POY. The outfielder hit .527 with 80 RBI's and 17 HR's in her record breaking freshman season.
Danielle Dille was outstading as she hit .489 on the season with 36 RBI's, 16 stolen bases, and 60 runs scored. Sam Hauck had an impressive sophomore season by hitting .488 with 5 HR's, 48 RBI's, and 57 runs scored. Alana Eaton earned her second All-Conference nomination by hitting .492 with 19 RBI's and was a force behind the dish with a .944 fielding percentage. Skylar Rechner finished her all-conference season with 84.2 innings pitched and a 6-2 record in the circle. She struck out 80 batters with a 3.64 ERA during her freshman season.
Stacy Johnson once again received coach of the year honors, in a season where her squad won 90% of their conference games, crowning them 2018 conference champions. Johnson reached a milestone that has not been matched by any other coach at Corning CC when she surpassed Wayne Kenner's 511 career wins this season. Johnson currently has 530 career wins as her team heads into the regional final four this Friday vs. Monroe CC @ Genesee CC starting at 10 am.
