The Corning Community College women's basketball team took to the road this weekend traveling to Adirondack CC on Saturday and Hudson Valley CC on Sunday. Saturday at ACC, Corning fell 63-50. Corning shot a dismal 29% from the field and only managed 16 points in the second half. Kiara Buxton scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, Taylor Sutryk added 11 points and Sabrina Samuels scored 8 and added 4 rebounds. On Sunday at HVCC, Corning had little problem scoring but fell in double OT at the hands of the Vikings 104-101. HVCC hit three's at the buzzer at the end of regulation and again at the end of the first OT period to tie the game. Sutryk scored a career-high 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Buxton recorded her second double-double in two days as she notched a career-high 31 points and grabbed 15 boards. Mackenzie Warner was the other Red Baron in double-figures with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists.
Corning will host Schenectady this Saturday at 1pm and Columbia Greene CC Sunday at noon to end first semester action.
