Sayre Standout Signs to Play Basketball at Corning Community College

Women's basketball recruit, Blair Wampole, has recently signed her National Letter of Intent to further her playing career at SUNY Corning Community College. Blair was an integral part of the Sayre Redskins Basketball program over the last four years where she helped her team earn the Division II championship and qualify for the district tournament in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Sayre and Wampole became District 4 AA Champions and advanced to the Pennsylvania Sweet Sixteen in 2017.  Blair also played soccer for Sayre High School helping her team qualify for district playoffs in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Her high school coach, Eileen Sparduti, had this to say about Blair, "Blair can change the game defensively. She has very good defensive instincts. When she is not blocking shots, she is altering them. Opponents must adjust to her presence inside."

Red Barons head coach, Mike Wright, spoke highly of Wampole saying: "Blair is the type of player we are looking for. She will give us a presence inside at both ends of the court.  I am excited that she has chosen SUNY Corning Community College to continue her basketball career.  Wampole will be studying Early Childhood while being a student-athlete for the Red Barons.
