The Corning CC women's basketball team opened their season at the Crossover Classic hosted by Jamestown CC. In their first game against Genesee CC, the Red Barons put up a tough fight ultimately losing to the Cougars by a score of 66-56. Kiara Buxton and Taylor Herberger led the charge as they both scored 18 points, had 8 rebounds, and handed out 3 assists a piece while Taylor Sutryk added 11 points against the Cougars.
In the second game of the classic the Red Barons took on the host team Jamestown CC and started out very slow as they scored 5 points in the first quarter and 17 total by halftime. In the second half, the Red Barons started to heat up posting 33 points in the half tying the Jayhawks number of points in the half, however, they would fall to Jamestown 69-50. Taylor Sutryk shot extremely well in the game as she went 4-7 from behind the arc enroute to posting a season high 17 points in the game.
The Red Barons take the court next at home on 11/10 at 12 pm and 11/11 at 11 am against North Country CC and Clinton CC.
