Red Barons Take Home Opener vs FLCC
The Corning Community College Men's Basketball took advantage of a 17 point lead at the halfway mark and cruised to a victory against SUNY Broome in their home opener.
The Corning Community College men's basketball team capitalized on a 17-point halftime lead to earn a convincing home-opening victory over SUNY Broome.
The Red Barons' defense set the tone early, forcing 18 turnovers in the first 20 minutes and converting those opportunities into 51 first-half points. Although the second half was more evenly contested, Corning's early advantage proved decisive as they maintained a double-digit lead through the final buzzer.
Freshman Jared Butler led the Red Barons with 23 points, followed closely by sophomore Julian Lownes with 22. Sitafa Hall added 13 points, and Wesley Peña contributed 12 in the balanced offensive effort.
The victory also marks the first career win for Head Coach Brendan Doherty at the helm of the Red Barons program.
Corning Community College returns to action on Saturday, November 8, when they travel to Cayuga CC for a 1 p.m. MSAC matchup.
